Lactation ConsultantThe Lactation Consultant guidance to patients, families, staff, and community in delivering education, information and training that responds to individualized needs in accordance with the current policies and procedures.What You'll DoIn this role, you will serve as a trusted expert, educator, and advocate, supporting patients, families, and care teams through every stage of the care journey. You will blend clinical expertise with compassion, ensuring exceptional outcomes and meaningful patient experiences.Health and Wellness LeadershipDesign, implement, and evaluate education programs tailored to the unique needs of patients and familiesServe as a subject matter expert in patient education, promoting health and wellness both within the organization and throughout the communityParticipate in community outreach and initiatives that support a culture of prevention, education, and well-beingCare Coordination & Clinical CollaborationPartner with multidisciplinary teams to support comprehensive care planningProvide consultation in complex lactation and patient education scenariosConnect patients and families with internal and community-based resourcesSupport the monitoring and improvement of patient and neonatal outcomesPatient Education ExcellenceCollaborate with nursing staff to develop and execute individualized teaching plansDeliver clear, compassionate education to patients, families, and the broader communityUse teach-back methods to ensure understanding and document learning outcomesContinuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of educational approachesLeadership & Team SupportModel positive leadership behaviors and serve as a resource for staff navigating complex patient education needsProvide guidance and consultation on care management and educational strategiesIdentify opportunities to enhance education programs and overall patient experienceSupport team members in delivering high-quality, patient-centered careHuman Experience & Patient-Centered CareBuild trust and confidence through strong communication, empathy, and clinical expertiseCreate meaningful patient connections through purposeful rounding and transparent communicationChampion an inclusive environment that values diversity and fosters belonging for both patients and team membersModel service excellence by consistently engaging in "Always Event" behaviors and incorporating patient feedbackCommunicate complex information in clear, simple language to ensure patient understandingLive out the mission, vision, values, and people-centered philosophy in every interactionLactation & Acute Care ServicesProvide comprehensive lactation support across inpatient, outpatient, and critical care settingsDeliver care through a variety of channels including in-person visits, virtual consultations, support groups, prenatal classes, and phone supportTravel between campus locations and facilities as needed to meet patient and organizational needsWhat We're Looking ForEducation: High School Diploma, required. 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree, preferred.Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in mother/baby care or breast feeding education, required.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current IBCLC certification, required. Current RN licensure in appropriate state, preferred.Additional Skills: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
